The Terrors of Unpaid Maternity Leave

I was twenty years old when I started my first full-salaried job, and I felt a mix of emotions appropriate to finally becoming comfortably independent: proud, relieved, content… You know, I felt like I had crossed a line that would allow me to never feel certain fears ever again.
